Hello, I am Taelor Balkissoon. I was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to Florida when I was 8 years old. I am currently a sophomore at Florida State University, majoring in Family and Child Sciences and minoring in both, Education and Sociology. I plan to use my studies from FSU to go on and be a child life specialist and an elementary education teacher, at some point. Some of my hobbies include: singing, playing sports, hanging out with friends and family, and teaching children.

My interest in teaching first began when I switched schools in 11th grade. The school I went to was a technical school, in which I had to choose a technical program to get certified in. The program I chose, was teaching. Throughout this program I would spend 3 hours, everyday, at either an elementary school, a preschool, or a middle school. While volunteering at those schools, I got to experience many different types of technology. It was actually part of my certification, to get trained in using dye-cut machines, copying machines/fax machines, the ELMO machine, projectors, computers, etc. In my preschool classes I would most commonly use the dye-cut machines and copying machines to cut out letters or pictures for the bulletin boards or make copies of worksheets. In my elementary classes, kindergarten and 3rd grade, I would use the ELMO machine the most, to display handwritten notes and lessons. And lastly, in my middle school, 6th grade class, I would use the projector and copying machine to make copies of worksheets and project textbook pages.

As a student, myself, I spend a lot of time on my MacBook to do assignments, take tests, and study. I mostly use Microsoft Office to get through my everyday classes. For example, I use Word/Google Docs, to write notes, Excel to create graphs and spreadsheets, and PowerPoint to give presentations. To study I use Quizlet, to create my own flashcards, study in different methods, and study anywhere. Some other learning resources I use outside of my computer, would have to be an agenda to keep track of everything that is due and a desk calendar, to constantly have reminders in my face, about my work schedule and school schedule. Florida State University Wallpaper I
